This blasted rock style of tunnel portal is a popular look on railroads the world over. The master model for this portal was created from actual rocks to give these portal casts their angular, authentic appearance.
The rock is fractured right above the portal opening to accentuate it's rugged looks. There are numerous small nooks on the portal face that would be ideal for adding soils, talus, moss or any other ground cover you choose. In addition there are small talus deposits molded on each of the portal "legs" . All of our gypsum pieces are now given a light coat of white acrylic primer on their face side. This is being done thanks to customer feedback and allows for greater control when painting and weathering.
Details: Portal opening is 1-3/8" high and 7/8" wide at it's narrowest point. Pictured here with Micro-Trains® Line sectional track which is 5/8" wide. Outside dimensions are approximately 2-3/8" high and 2-1/2" wide.
